It is well suited for traditional Bengali preparations such as macher jhol, kalia, paturi and mustard-based curry, as well as shallow frying. Its clean, mild taste makes it a versatile choice for everyday meals.
Our Bhola Bhetki is sourced fresh and cleaned hygienically before packing. Fresh fish should have bright, clear eyes, firm flesh, a fresh marine smell and naturally moist skin. Keep refrigerated at 0–4°C and consume as soon as possible for the best taste and texture.
Bhola (Johnius coitor) is reported by ICAR-Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute to contain approximately 20.6 g protein and only 0.6 g fat per 100 g in the analysed sample, making it a relatively lean, protein-rich fish. Actual nutrition can vary depending on species, size and preparation.
