Desi Mourola is a small, slender, silvery freshwater fish with a slightly flattened body. It is traditionally cooked whole, often fried until crispy or prepared as jhol, jhal or tok. Small Mourola can be eaten with the bones after cooking, making it a useful source of minerals.
